a note from our creative director

I’m AJ, the Founder & Creative Director of Occult Creative. I’ve been working in the branding industry for over 10 years. I have plenty of “talent” and “experience” in this industry, but I think the more important thing to note is that I am a kind, honest, and fair person to work with. And it’s for that reason that I have been able to accumulate and MAINTAIN many contacts over the course of my career. I’ve always treated my clients, vendors, and creatives with respect, in an industry known for swindling them for financial gain. I’ve bounced from agency to agency paying my dues, yet never really feeling good about their internal practices. I eventually realized that when you’re a creative, you’re treated as a machine, and not as a mind.

So, I set out to create a humane design studio. 

A place where clients and creatives can be heard. Our design studio also utilizes vendors that are woman-owned, immigrant-owned, BIPOC-owned, and local whenever humanly possible. It only takes us a little bit of extra effort and research - so why not do the right thing?

If you’re looking to work with an agency that has a big office, with a fancy address, then this studio is NOT for you. We are substance over style. Performance over pride. We’re working-class artists with experience in a trade, ready to get to work.
